The July 10, 2018 Land Surface Temperature (LST) map shown below was created using Landsat Analysis Ready Data from USGS. The original Kelvin temperatures have been converted to Fahrenheit. When you move the cursor over the map, the LST temperature (or LST temperature range) for the area will be displayed. LST temperatures below 100ºF have been group together and are colored light blue. LST temperatures from 100ºF to 125ºF have been grouped in 5ºF increments. This has been done to reduce the file size, which improves web site performance. The LST temperatures from 125ºF to 150ºF have polygon areas that identify the temperature for each 30 square meter area. This method for displaying the LST temperatures reduces the file size from 103MB to 16MB. The reduced file size takes about one minute to load into your web browser (depending on your network). Please be patient.

Note: The ambient air temperature in New York for the day of 7/10/2018 was: Average (83 ºF); Max (92 ºF); Min (72 ºF).  The time of this Landsat data collection was at 11:32am (for the center of the Landsat scene). The LST temperatures from 115ºF to 139ºF have polygon areas that identify the temperature for each 30 square meter area. This method for displaying the LST temperatures reduces the file size from 65MB to 10MB. The reduced file size takes about one minute to load into your web browser (depending on your network). Note: The ambient air temperature in New York for the day of 6/13/2020 was: Average (67 ºF); Max (73 ºF); Min (61 ºF).  The time of this Landsat data collection was at 11:32am (for the center of the Landsat scene).
